We've welcomed ex-pros and beginning riders alike through our doors, and offer rides for every level in between. Whether you are a Cat-1 racer looking for some serious climbing, or a weekend rider who would enjoy an easy spin down the coast, I can take you there. In 2012, I was lucky enough to ride with Team ViaSat as we set a new course record in the Race Across America, the world's toughest bicycle race. In the two years I spent preparing for the odyssey that is RAAM, I pounded every road in San Diego County, and I can show you some of the greatest cycling you could ever imagine. Come ride with me!

Da Luz Canyon 62 miles, 6400' climb

This is the signature ride, where the concept for Roadie's Hideaway was born. This ride includes quiet clean roads through some of the most beautiful country that San Diego's north county has to offer. Just don't forget your climbing legs, because you'll need them! If you're up for the challenge, we hope that you will choose Da Luz Canyon as one of your rides. This route represents everything that the Roadies Hideaway is all about. Combine this ride with Twin Oaks Valley Road for an epic century you won't soon forget.

Twin Oaks Valley Road, 43 miles, 3600' climb

I have many commuting routes available, but Twin Oaks Valley Road (TOVR) is by far my favorite. This ride starts with some fine and quiet country roads, then a long screaming downhill, which sets us up for the namesake stretch of road. TOVR is a lonely, winding two lane road that climbs past commercial growers' fields and beautiful country homes. You'll forget you are just minutes from North County San Diego as you pedal along this scenic beauty of a ride.

Palomar Mountain, 92 miles, 11,500' climb

If you're looking for a challenge, then Palomar Mountain is for you. Rated as one of the 10 most difficult climbs in the United States, Palomar Mountain is well known to cyclists around the world. There are a variety of ways to experience the magnificence of this climb, but my favorite is to ride there from the Hideaway along the RAAM route. This is a challenging ride, but the most hard-core of riders will be up for taking it one step further by riding both routes (South Grade AND East Grade) before heading back for home. We ride some busier roads to get to Palomar, but if you're a climber at heart, it will be worth it.

Coast North, 50 to 100 miles, 2500' climb

Head North on the coast for a unique ride through the Camp Pendelton military base and proving grounds. This ride gives you miles and miles of flat or gently rolling roads with little or no traffic. Combine that with continuous views of the Pacific Ocean all along the way and you'll understand why this is one of the favorite weekend rides for local bicycle clubs and visitors from all around the world. If you're a triathlete looking for a great place to air our your TT bike and get some good long uninterupted miles, then this is the ride for you. Leaving from the Hideaway, this ride can be adjusted in length from 50 to 100 miles. Just don't forget your ID, you can't get on the military base without it.

Coast South

On any given weekend you can join hundreds of roadies who gather to enjoy the Southern California coast together. We'll leave the Bonsall hills and make our way to the North San Diego coast along the beautiful San Luis Rey Bike Trail. We then follow scenic Highway 101 South through diverse coastal communities such as Oceanside, Luecadia, Encinitis, Del Mar and La Jolla. Each stretch of the coast has its own character, charm and scenery, and you're sure to fall in love with a number of locales along the way. This ride can be tailored to be as easy or challenging as you like. Though the route is generally flat, the full century includes several good climbs. There are plenty of coffee shops and roadside eateries to take advantage of, if you find yourself ready for a break. This is a ride that people come from around the world to enjoy.

And So Much MORE!
